GE was founded by Thomas Edison in 1878, and today is one of the world’s biggest brands. It operates in over 100 countries and employees more than 100,000 members of staff. The company has a diverse portfolio of work, which includes financial services, power generation, healthcare, and technology.

Headquartered in Connecticut in the United States, it ranks as the third largest company in the world in the Forbes Global 2000, and regularly wins awards for innovation and its green credentials.

GE offers a variety of graduate programmes including engineering, operations, research and development, IT, finance, HR and marketing. A good academic background is required, and some disciplines require a degree within that area.

The programmes are usually in the form of a one to two year scheme that incorporates on-the-job learning with classroom training and formal learning. Mentoring is a key part of the GE philosophy, so graduates can be sure that they’ll be given the support they need to make an impact and progress.

The starting salary is around £30,000, and graduates are also entitled to around 25 days of paid holiday per year.
